Tree Work
Tree surgery is on of the most dangerous occupations in the
UK. With so many companies around now that offer Arboricultural
services at a variety of prices and standards, it is hard to know
who to contact when it comes to your trees. Look no further! We
have the experience, skills and qualifications to cover all
aspects of the work from 'enquiry to completion'. M Large Tree
Services Ltd was founded in 1970 by its Managing Director, Michael
Large. It is now one of the longest established and most reputable
Arboricultural companies in the British Isles, with an on-going
successful track record in tree surgery and in providing
Arboricultural Consultancy to most of the commercial, local
authority and governmental clients in Northern Ireland. We carry
Public Liability Insurance of £5 million, Employer's Liability
Insurance of £10 million and Professional indemnity insurance
cover of £5 million - We always adopt best working practices and
keep abreast of new developments in working methods. Click here to

Our company has invested in a wide range of up to date
machinery and have access to a vast selection of equipment
required to carry out all of our Arboricultural works. To date we
have worked for almost every public body in N. Ireland as well as
thousands of private clients. M.Large Tree Services reputation has
grown over the years, and their clients are assured a professional
and high quality service. Now most of our work is repeat or
referrals. We never advertise for work, our only exception being a
small advert in the yellow pages. This is a reflection of our
quality of service. M. Large Tree Services Ltd are recognised by
local authorities and Government bodies as a leading specialist
Arboricultural company. We believe that the combination of our
skills, together with our wealth of experience is the most
successful way of providing tree care solutions and the most
effective in ensuring customer satisfaction.
We provide prompt and professional assistance in the
following areas:
Planning & establishing woodland, mostly hardwood in urban
situations e.g. community woodlands.
Arboricultural contracting including tree surgery, pruning,
felling and stump removal.
Landscape & grounds maintenance contracting, including the
establishment and maintenance of public woodlands and parks, the
creation of pond and wildlife habitat.
Emergency tree removal service is required when your
property has sustained sudden storm or accident damage. Wind,
snow, ice, or other severe weather conditions can quickly cause
extreme damage to your trees and property. If trees are down or
dangerously damaged by wind, ice, snow or rain, it's reassuring to
know that M.Large's teams are well-trained to work in these
hazardous situations. Our customers have relied upon us for over
30 years to provide professional emergency response services.
Tree felling legislation
To ensure that tree felling is carried out for the right
reasons, it is subject to two main pieces of legislation which act
as a control and check on most tree felling operations. Tree
Preservation Orders (TPOs) are used by the local Borough or
District Council to safeguard landscape and amenity. They can be
applied to woodlands as well as to single trees or groups of
trees. They can cover trees of any size. Permission must be sought
to carry out any type work on the trees. Even building work near
protected trees which may cause a significant impact on their
health will need permission. To find out whether particular trees
or woodlands are protected by a Tree Preservation Order contact
your local Tree Officer. More details on TPOs can be found in the
government publication Protected Trees: A Guide to Tree
Preservation Procedures.
As part of our quality standards and management objectives,
we would aim to adhere to all relevant legislation, codes of
practice (COP) and British standards. In particular we would aim
to be conversant with all Northern Ireland Orders and
interpretations of current legislation and all other regulations /
codes of practice relating to Healthy and Safety and the like
(full listing of legislation which we adhere to is available at
our office).
